Land-Based Educator for Children and Youth | Full-Time Casual

Location: Outside of Yellowknife

This position is driven by land-based learning, relationship building and collaborative support with the Dechinta Godzèa Children and Youth Program. The Dechinta Godzèa program is shaped by Dene worldviews and Dene land-based perspectives. This position will require you to lead our children and youth land-based program and educator support staff in delivering land-based learning, cultural practices and language revitalization for twelve days. This position requires overnight stay at our fall program outside of Yellowknife (with limited cell phone service) and extensive time on the land.

You will organize day-to-day activities collaboratively with the land-based educator support and the Dechinta team for the children and youth. The activities will include learning together on the land and sharing northern Indigenous land-based and cultural teachings. This role will create a learning environment that embodies traditional teachings and efforts to transmit knowledge and revitalize northern Indigenous culture with the educator support staff for the children and youth program.
